Dageti Megalithic Complex (Region of Kvemo Kartli)
Dageti megalithic complex (Georgian: დაღეთის მეგალითური კომპლექსი) – The structures of the Megalithic Complex date back to the Bronze Age. The site was also used in the Middle Ages, some of the surviving cyclopean walls have late period inserts with clay and small stones. The remains of the Dageti settlement occupies a huge area and is a surprisingly large complex. It was a fortified urban settlement with an additional outer fortification wall and a trench.
Mostly very large boulders are used in construction. Most of the buildings have a rounded shape. There are so-called Darani(Georgian: დარანი), which are now covered with earth. Walls 2 meters thick, built of smaller stones, have been preserved. The cyclopean complex of Dageti is undoubtedly one of the most impressive megalithic monuments of Georgia. Throughout the forest you can see the remains of buildings built of giant boulders on an area of about 2 hectares. Megalithic complex Dageti entered to the list of historical and cultural monuments of national importance of Georgia.
