Signagi (Sighnaghi) Townn (Region of Kakheti)
Signagi (Sighnaghi) (Georgian: სიღნაღი ) – The small, cozy town in eastern Georgia, located on a mountain slope in the historical region of Kakheti. It is the only town in Georgia that has completely preserved its fortress walls. The fortress wall is lined with watchtowers, which you can climb to see magnificent views of the Alazani Valley. New pages in the history book of this small town have been written in recent decades with the beginning of a major reconstruction. The goal is to make Sighnaghi a center of tourism.
The city has two central squares, where the casino, the bank building, the city hall and the Wedding House are located, where you can get married at any time of the day. That is why Sighnaghi is called the “City of Lovers”. In Sighnaghi you will find many cozy places, hotels and hostels for every taste, street cafes and restaurants where you can taste the famous Kakhetian wines. Sighnaghi has gradually turned into a European town with narrow cobbled streets, winding and steep, and neighborhoods of one- and two-story houses under bright red tiled roofs in the style of southern Italian classicism.
