Tbilisi Ethnographic open-air museum
Tbilisi Ethnographic Museum (Georgian: თბილისის ეთნოგრაფიული მუზეუმი) – The museum is one of the most unique in Georgia and is an open-air exhibition of centuries-old architectural and folk handicrafts from different regions of Georgia. The visitor has an opportunity to get acquainted with the corners of Georgia and learn about the architecture and traditions of each of them without leaving the city. The museum is like a time machine, transporting the visitor to the ancient history of Georgia. The ethnographic open-air museum is concentrated on a 52 hectare plot of land.
There are about 70 buildings on the territory of the museum, built according to different technologies. Real village courtyards with cellars, barns, barns and stables have been built. In each house the visitor will be met by a guide who will tell the history of a particular building, explain the peculiarities of life in this region and the purpose of individual items. The interior decoration of the rooms corresponds to the customs of the region the house represents. Dishes, furniture, clothing and agricultural implements are on display for visitors. The ethnographic complex is the wine cellars, where the conditions for wine storage are recreated.
