Tour Plan

Itinerary: Tbilisi — Kojori Fortress — Junkers Memorial — Udzo Monastery — Betania Monastery —Manglisi Sioni - Mtatsminda — Tbilisi

Visit to the Kojori Fortress. Due to its location, the fortress was difficult for the enemy to reach (at an altitude of 1250 meters). In feudal times, it was of great strategic importance for the country. From inside the fortress, there are breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Visit to the memorial to the cadets in Kojori. A monument to the cadets who died in the last battle for Tbilisi. Then the young fighters failed to defend the capital of the recently formed Georgian Democratic Republic, but, having laid down their lives in the fight against the enemy, they, as noted in the memorial inscription, managed to defend the faith in freedom.

Visit to Uzo Monastery. The medieval monastery is surrounded by dense forests and has a mystical aura due to its remoteness and quiet tranquility. The monastery not only impresses with its beauty, but also has a deep spiritual meaning.

Visit to Betania Monastery. The monastery is rightly called one of the best examples of Georgian temple architecture. Historians and chronicles tell us almost nothing about Betania, but its past is told by the ancient frescoes of the temple, stone carvings and inscriptions, strict architectural forms.

Visit to Manglisi Sioni. One of the earliest Christian churches in Georgia, the Church of the Holy Cross of Christ was built in the 5th century. In addition to its impressive beauty, the Temple is considered the earliest example of such a type of temple, and its architectural details serve as a starting point for the development of similar architecture in Georgia.

Visiting Mount Mtatsminda. Mtatsminda literally hangs over the old quarters of Tbilisi. There is a wonderful amusement park on the top of Mount Mtatsminda. The observation deck is quite large, and by walking along it you can see Tbilisi from all its sides.
