Itinerary: Tbilisi - Goombori - Alaverdi - Gremi - Nekresi -Lake d'Ilia - Kindzmarauli - Khareba - Tbilisi
Gombori Pass is a kind of portal that introduces you to the world of ancient Kakheti. The pass is striking in its beauty, and when planning routes around Kakheti, it is worth considering visiting. The road to Gombori passes through places of fabulous beauty and its views can even compete with the roads of the famous mountainous regions of Georgia.
Visit to the Alaverdi Monastery. An outstanding example of medieval Georgian architecture. Despite repeated destruction, the architectural ensemble has preserved its original outlines. Brick bishop's palace, bathhouse, wine cellar (marani), monks' cells, a unique vineyard, where 104 varieties of grapes are collected.
Visit to Gremi Castle. The castle is considered the pearl of the Kakheti wine region. The ensemble consists of the Church of the Archangels, a bell tower, a three-story royal palace, surrounded by a wall with towers and embrasures, where the remains of a secret underground passage leading to the river are still preserved. The fortress offers breathtaking views of the Greater Caucasus.
Visit to Nekresi Monastery. An ancient monastery complex located in a picturesque place, at the very top of the mountains, in the embrace of green forests. Many centuries ago, there was an ancient city of the same name, Nekresi, the ruins of which can be seen from the height of the monastery. The Monastery Complex offers a breathtaking view of the Alazani Valley.
Lake d'Ilia - Located in the valley of the Duruji River, in the unique microzone of Kindzmarauli. An excellent place to relax for many locals and travelers, an opportunity to have fun and ride a boat, enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Visit to the "Kindzmarauli" winery. The winery is the main producer of the famous brand of wine. The company owns three quarters of the vineyards of the Kindzmarauli microzone. The program includes wine tasting.
Visit to the "Khareba" Winery. The winery is known to many for its unique wine cellar in Kvareli, which is carved directly into the rocks (7 kilometers) of the Caucasus Range. Constant temperature throughout the year is an ideal condition for storing wine. The program includes wine tasting.
