Balda Canyon (Region of Samegrelo)
Balda Canyon (Georgian: ბალდის კანიონი) – Incredible natural monument, the splendor of which never ceases to amaze, is located in the cozy valley of the River of Abasha (Georgian: აბაშა). In terms of beauty and splendor, it can compete with the neighboring Martvili Canyon, especially since they are washed by the same river Abasha. The natural monument is a canyon cut in the limestone rock in the southern part of the massif of Askhi (Georgian: ასხის მასივი). The length of the canyon is 1400 m, width 5-10 m, depth of the slot is 25-30 m. It is a beautiful place covered with tropical thickets and with many waterfalls. The canyon is best viewed when rafting down the river.
The most picturesque views are found inside the canyon. The water has a truly enchanting hue, especially beautiful in hot weather when bright rays of light illuminate the water surface with the dazzling glow of the sun, making the bubbling water of this enchanting canyon sparkle with all the colors of the rainbow. The enchanting scenery, majestic cliffs and picturesque gorges immerse visitors in an atmosphere of peace and delight. It is an ideal place for walks, photo shoots and simply enjoying the beauty of nature. Despite its unrivaled originality, Balda Canyon is not yet widely popular among travelers, which is due solely to the low popularity of this canyon among tourists.
