Mukhrani Fortress (Region of Shida Kartli)
Mukhrani Fortress (Georgian: მუხრანის ციხე-გალავანი) – Fortress that belonged to the Mukhran-batoni family (Georgian: მუხრან-ბატონი), one of the branches of the royal family of Georgia – Bagrationi (Georgian: ბაგრატიონი).  One of the largest medieval Georgian fortresses – a total area of 2.5 hectares. During the enemy invasion, residents of several villages took refuge in the fortress. The fortress, built in the 18th century, consisted of two parts: the castle complex, which has survived to this day, and the defensive wall, of which nothing remains today. The local population dismantled the fortress wall and used the stones to build houses. The castle complex includes buildings of various purposes, some of which have survived intact, while others have been destroyed.
There are cylindrical towers in all four corners of the citadel, and a church in the northeastern part. The largest of the citadel towers, a four-story tower in the northeast, was used both for the residence of a wealthy feudal lord and for defensive purposes. The fourth floor of the main tower is a fighting platform, which can be reached by a ladder built into the wall. The tower ends with semicircular loopholes located on the same horizontal line. The other three towers are three-story and in many ways similar to the northeastern tower and have separate entrances to the first and second floors. The palace standing on the southern wall of the citadel is completely destroyed. The walls of the fortress are two-tiered. Due to this, a “battle path” rises along the entire perimeter of the fortress, along which you can move.
