Ushguli (Region of Svaneti)
Ushguli (Georgian: უშგული). Ushguli continues to amaze travelers with its ancient towers, stunning landscapes and distinct cultural identity. One of the most important and integral landmarks of Ushguli is the Svan tower. They were mainly built as defensive structures. The oldest buildings in Ushguli date back to the 9th-10th centuries, but according to archaeological data, a settlement existed here long before that time. Today, Ushguli has a developed tourist infrastructure, family hotels, mobile communications, and marked routes.
