Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park

National Park of Borjomi-Kharagauli  (Eastern Georgia, Region of Samtskhe-Javakheti)

Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park is located in the central part of Georgia and creates the eastern part of the lesser Caucasus Mountains. The total area amounts to 104,933 ha, which is more than 1,5% of the territory of Georgia. Borjomi-Kharagauli Protected Areas includes 6 districts – Borjomi, Kharagauli, Akhaltsikhe, Adigeni, Khashuri and Baghdati.

Administrative and visitors centres of the national park are located in Borjomi and Kharagauli. The park administration manages 4 various types of protected areas – Borjomi Nature Reserve, Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, Nedzvi Managed Reserve and Goderdzi fossil forest Natural Monument.

Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park tourist route network allows hiking for one or several days. The tourist route network is up to 400-2,642 meters above sea level. Paths are marked and well-arranged. Tourist shelters, picnic spots, and camping sites are arranged along the routes. Sites for setting up a fire are also allocated. The national park offers hiking, horse riding, biking, snowshoes, cultural and educational tours. The routes function throughout the year.

The program of each hike is discussed and planned individually, taking into account your wishes, for a better overview of the paths and hikes on the territory of Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park .

Marked and organized by us  trails:

  1. Nikolay Romanov trail – 43 km, 3 days, hiking / horseback, medium difficulty

Main attractions: coniferous forests, Mount Lomi (lion), Church of Light. George on Mount Lomi, an observation deck overlooking the Caucasus Mountains, the Colchis subtropical forest.

  1. St. Andrew trail – 54 km, 4 days, hiking / equestrian, difficult

Main attractions: mixed forests, an open-air cage with niamors (representatives of artiodactyls, a species of goats), the highest peak in the national park – Sametskhvari, Mount Rkinis Jvari (Iron Cross), Colchis subtropical forest.

  1. Panorama trail – 34 km, 2 days, hiking / horseback riding, difficult

Main attractions: an aviary with niamors (Capra aegagrus), mixed forests of the national park, panoramic views of the Lesser Caucasus, Mount Amarati.

  1. Zekari Overpass trail – 31 km, 3 days, hiking, difficult

Main attractions: the Abastumani resort, the most beautiful views of the Zekarsky pass and the Colchis subtropical forest.

  1. Footprint trail – 13 km, 6 hours, on foot, medium difficulty

Main attractions: panoramic views of the surroundings, views of the Kvabiskhevi canyon, the Church of St. Mariami in Kvabiskhevi.

  1. Information trail – 3 km, 2 hours, walking, medium difficulty

Main attractions: the Church of them. St. Nino, view of Borjomi

  1. Mekhruki valley trail– 5.5 km, 6 hours, hiking / horseback, medium difficulty

Main attractions: the canyon of the Mehruki River, the Colchis subtropical forest

  1. Shepherds trail– 16 km, 7 h, hiking / equestrian, medium difficulty

Main attractions: Mount Lomi, Church of St. George on Mount Lomi, an observation deck overlooking the Caucasus, houses of shepherds, panoramic views of the Lesser Caucasus.
