Navenakhevi Cave (Region of Imereti)
Navenakhevi Cave (Georg. ნავენახევის მღვიმე) stands out for its stalagmites, stalactites and stalagnates, which differ in shape. (Opposite the stalactites, stalagmites form, which together create a stalagant) The cave is unique in its structure, which includes two floors with four cave halls, which in total represent a height of 250 meters. At 30 meters from the entrance, the cave is divided into two parts. The second floor is connected to the hall by small steps. The cave has no exit because of the massive stalagmite, which is 7 meters thick.
According to rough estimates, the Navenakhevi rock complex was formed about 25 million years ago. Throughout the cave there is abundant material of crushed stone, clay slabs, bone-branch formations are well preserved. The length of the underground route open to the public does not exceed 250 meters. The temperature in the cave averages 10 degrees, varying from 5 to 15 degrees throughout the year. The short length of the route allows you to take a walk even in light clothes. Concrete paths do not require special shoes and are quite comfortable for walking.
