Mount of Shulaveri (Region of Kvemo Kartli)
Mount of Shulaveri (Georg. შულავერის გორა). The earliest architectural structures date back to the Neolithic. The excavations of the ancient village of Shulaveri (5th millennium BC) gives a fairly clear idea of the nature of residential architecture, its features and layout, the specifics of ceramics and other household and household equipment. Round in terms of residential (up to 3 m in diameter) and outbuildings were built of mud bricks of various sizes, fastened with clay mortar. The entrance to the room was made in the wall, above the floor, a small round-quadrangular opening about 0.5 X 0.5 m in size. The hearths were located near the walls.
These thick-shaped structures with domed ceilings adjoined each other closely, or between them there were walls with openings common to each room. Dwelling houses usually had holes in the dome for light and smoke. A yard is open here, consisting of two round houses and two similar round utility rooms35. In some dwellings, clay unfired vessels of an elongated ovoid shape were placed near the walls. As the researchers suggest, these vessels had a cult purpose – they maintained an eternal, unquenchable fire.
